The New Tiguan has been re-designed, re-engineered and innovated. It sets a new standard for SUVs in its segment and is strikingly good looking. With its new streamlined front grille and re-sculpted form, it’s up-to-date and ready for the future – both on-road and off-road.

The optional panoramic sliding sunroof gives the interior an open-top feeling of space. And there is a good reason why: its glass surface, three times the size of a conventional sunroof, admits an optimum amount of daylight and offers 1.5 times the opening area. That means you can enjoy 710 x 590mm of wide-open sky above you – and when you have had enough of the sun, the integrated electric blind shields you superbly from the light and heat.

The New Tiguan Track & Field is impressive on-road, but its real home is in open terrain: with its special off-road front end and Pull-Off Assist, it effortlessly negotiates steep approach angles of up to 28°, making for unlimited driving pleasure. Its engine undershield is both authentic in its design and essential to many freedoms the Tiguan provides.

The New Tiguan has three sporty and elegant equipment versions to take on the urban jungle. The New Tiguan Sport & Style has everything you need for the city, while the “Track & Field” is built for the adventure with pronounced off-road design and black roof rails alluding to its pioneering outdoor spirit. The New Tiguan “Sport& Style” is instantly noticeable with a sporty, masculine front end and chrome fins on the radiator grille.

Whatever road you are conquering: in the New Tiguan you can enjoy perfect comfort. The optional "Vienna" leather package with sports seats in the front features a driver's seat with electric fore/aft adjustment and electrically adjustable lumbar support, a 3-spoke leather steering-wheel with aluminium trim, a gear lever knob in leather, and seat centre and side sections in "Vienna" leather.

Whatever ideas you hit upon when out in the urban jungle: the sliding and asymmetrically folding rear seats leave plenty of room for spontaneous planning en route and for transporting luggage items of up to 2.5m in length.

You can determine your own climate in the New Tiguan – just as you want it and at the touch of a button. As an alternative to the standard "Climatic" air-conditioning system, you can enjoy the comfort of the "Climatronic"* air-conditioning with fully automatic 2-zone temperature control. The advantage: the driver and front passenger can adjust their temperatures independently of one another. In addition, the air recirculation mode automatically steps in when reverse gear is engaged to keep odours out of the cabin.

Driving is a dynamic experience. So aerodynamics is an important aspect in the conceptual design of a car's body: the better the aerodynamics, the lower the fuel consumption and also the noise level of the vehicle in motion. You can check that out in the New Tiguan: your ear will experience pure, unspoilt driving comfort – but with all the performance.

The leather 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel is standard on all New Tiguans.

A ground-breaking feature designed to keep you alert when you’ve been on the road for a long time, the Rest Assist Fatigue Detection System senses fading concentration levels by intelligently measuring your pedal and steering-wheel use. It warns you when a break is needed via an acousticsignal and a visual message displayed on the instrument cluster – just another example of what makes the New Tiguan such an intelligent vehicle.

Using a camera in the interior mirror, Light Assist works from speeds of 60 km/h by sensing oncoming traffic and automatically dips the main headlight beam. Once the traffic has passed by, the headlight beam is reactivated.

Connect automatically between your mobile phone and the Volkswagen Bluetooth system. Once the system and phone are paired, you’re ready to go – the phone can be set as a trusted device with no need to configure each time you get behind the wheel.

In the dark, it is reassuring to be able to see the way in front of you: that is the advantage of optional Bi-Xenon headlights with the Advanced Front lighting System (AFS). The confident-looking headlights project a strong light and provide better illumination of the road with their dipped and main beams – even in all the bends you pass through on your way.

From speeds as low as 30 km/h, the cruise control function maintains the speed set by the driver, helping to achieve relaxed driving especially over long distances. The cruise control system helps out by storing and maintaining the driver's selected speed. You can also briefly increase or decrease the set speed manually by a defined increment or deactivate the system altogether.

Driving on rough terrain is exciting, but parking is not. So the New Tiguan overcomes the challenges of city traffic with smart technology: the optional "Park Assist" system, for instance, detects suitable parking spaces and steers the vehicle into them in reverse gear on its own. In addition, the optionally available "Rear Assist" reversing camera displays the area behind the New Tiguan. This gives you a good view of obstacles even if they are too low to be seen directly. And when you leave your parking space again, you can let the easy-to-use cruise control system maintain your chosen speed as soon as you are above 30km/h.

Top scores in crash tests are no luxury for the New Tiguan; they come as standard. Its innovative safety concept offers you occupant protection technology of the highest level. A key factor is the continuous improvement of systems such as ESP, the innovative airbag system and highly visible turn signals. That puts your mind at rest to let you concentrate on the main thing: pure driving enjoyment.

Greater traction with the four-link rear suspension provides safety on the road, while the new generation of petrol and diesel engines combines more power with less fuel consumption and lower emissions to help preserve the environment. Which is why the New Tiguan is the first off-road vehicle worldwide to be powered exclusively by supercharged TDI and TSI engines.

If it comes to the worst, you are well prepared: an intelligently thought-out airbag system consisting of front, curtain and side airbags affords optimum protection in the event of an accident. When the airbags are triggered, at the same time, the doors are unlocked, the hazard warning lights and interior lighting are switched on and the fuel pump is deactivated. Thanks to this airbag system, an extremely strong body structure and numerous other safety features, the New Tiguan scored five stars for occupant protection in the Euro NCAP crash test – making it one of the safest vehicles in its class.

Of the many arguments in favour of the New Tiguan, its towing talents certainly carry weight. Heavy loads that need a trailer are no problem with the New Tiguan Track & Field. It can effortlessly tow up to 2.5 tonnes, depending on the engine and gearbox combination. With trailer stabilisation fitted as standard to keep both the vehicle and trailer as steady as possible at all times, you are always on the safe side.
